Red Fox

The UK’s only wild member of the dog family, Canidae. This iconic, stealthy predator is remarkably resourceful, being both at home in the countryside and in suburban areas like Didsbury.

If you’re lucky you might catch one weaving through the park as it hunts for its prey, which includes small mammals, birds, frogs, and worms, though foxes also enjoy berries and fruit! While the male fox produces a high-pitched bark, the vixen has a disturbing scream-like call.
