Peacock Butterfly

Like the bird it’s named after, this butterfly is a real beauty, with its colourful eye-like wing pattern making for a stunning sight.

The caterpillars feed on nettles, while the butterfly enjoys tucking into the nectar of buddleia and other flowers. If disturbed, it has the ability to produce a hissing noise with its wings to scare off predators.
