Mining Bees

Mining bees can be found throughout Didsbury Park, where they create anthill-like burrows in the grass.

These solitary bees do not form colonies in the same way honey bees or bumble bees do. They also lack the sting of their larger relatives. There are around 67 species of these important pollinators found across the UK; the one pictured is a Clark's mining bee.
